Deep Das Gupta talks about Saliva ban, MS Dhoni & more in OFF THE FIELD Show

A Sports enthusiast is always are looking to get lights on the thought process and want to know more about their favorite stars. As for now, we are being flooded with the insights and interviews of our heroes and I found one of the interesting interviews I went through recently, is by former Indian International and right now the heart of Indian commentary team, Mr. Deep Das Gupta as opens up Sports Tiger where he talks about his journey and his views about the other aspect of the game.

The interview was carried in a very positive manner where he talked about his starting days, about he ended up playing for Bengal and he also mentioned his first international series, in South Africa and how unfortunately he was banned for a game for over appealing.

Talking about recent guidelines by ICC on the ban on usage of saliva, he acknowledged the logic and reason behind the move but suggested that it is a bit unfair to bowlers. He made a good point with that as it is like taking a weapon from a bowler's arsenal. He mentioned that instead, ICC should give something in return to the bowlers, like better bowling pitches, and that would help in maintaining the balance.

A conversation was made even for test cricket when he mentioned test cricket is the purest form and how ICC could conduct more day-night matches so that the legacy of test cricket could be maintained.

There was one very interesting point he discussed whether BCCI should allow Indian players to play other franchise and I liked his point where he says that it should be allowed but with the condition if the particular player isn't playing international cricket for past 2 years. Later in the conversation, he highlighted that BCCI should emphasize more on domestic cricket.

In this thoughts on MS Dhoni, he says , let Dhoni decide his future but there should be some conversation with the board. He agreed that Dhoni will be missed, but that how things go on. He also made a point on comparing Pant or Rahul with Dhoni is very unfair, as the status on which Dhoni is standing right is very huge. And I totally agreed with this thought.

On being asked about different captains for different formats he gave this great insight that this is not the right time to implement that plan as it will be unfair to new captains to adjust with the team and vice versa.

Deep Das Gupta also was part of one amazing rapid fire round where he answered some tough questions, and he picked his all time IPL XI, expressed his views in captaincy. What all players he picked and how did the rapid fire go, to find do check Sports Tiger app, or via Sports Tiger YouTube channel and enjoy this great one-on-one conversation in OFF THE FIELD show.
